Milena Stanisic graduated from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in the class of prof. Milica Barić. She spent two years studying at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester under prof. Frank Sternfeld. In 2016, she became a Doctor of Arts under the mentorship of Ljiljana Nestorovska.
During her studies, she won the Young Musician of the Year Competition (Morecambe, England, 1997) and Petar Konjović Competition in Belgrade (1994). For over 15 years, she was employedin the National Theatre Orchestra in Belgrade and since 2009 she has been working at the Faculty of Music where she is a Full Professor now. She has beena permanent collaborator of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the RTS Symphony Orchestra and other ensembles in the country and the region.
As a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed inworld’sharp congresses in Switzerland, Canada, Australia, China, harp festivals in Serbia, Croatia, Russia (the Northern Lyre Harp Festival at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg), Brazil (the Harp Festival in Rio de Janeiro) and concerts in Great Britain, Slovenia, Italy, France, China, Hungary, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bulgaria. She receivedthe following awards: the October Award of the City of Belgrade for Youth Creativity in 1994, the Award of the National Theatre in Belgrade for exceptional results at work in 2007 and the Award of the City of Belgrade - Despot Stefan Lazarević – special recognition in 2020.
Besides, she has received other numerous important awards. She is one of the founders of the Harp Festival (2002) and the chairman of the Association of Harpists and Harp Friends of Serbia.
