Basic informations
The School for Musical Talents in Ćuprija is one of a kind institution in our country with its curriculum and a goal that, with the help of experienced pedagogues who work here, provides proper education and musical guidance for musically gifted children who become students of this school.
During the ten years of schooling, the members of this "Great Musical Family" live in the conditions of boarding school accommodation and master an intensive program of music and general education classes. There are only two other educational institutions in the world that work with a similar concept: the Central Music School in Moscow and the "Yehudi Menuhin" School in London.
The main strategy of the School's development is to expand to the other countries of the region and thus return to the original idea of the creators who founded the school in 1973 and devoted it to the entire former Yugoslavia, a violin professors Lazar Marjanović (Belgrade) and Jovan Rakić (Ćuprija). The school is string-based and teaches violin, viola, cello, and double bass. The school is connected through professional cooperation with the University of Arts in Belgrade Faculty of Music, and it has been successfully operating for years. It is well known for its results and celebrated former students, and it has produced over 250 young musicians who continued their education at universities in the country and abroad.
The students of the School participate in competitions in the country and in well-known international competitions and are highly ranked in terms of the quality and the overall number of awards won.
The School of Musical Talents has the status of a School of exceptional national importance.
Besides its educational role, the School for Musical Talents also has a very rich concert activity throughout our country in the halls of tremendous cultural importance like Kolarac Endowment, Kolarac Gallery, SANU Gallery, at the most important music events like BEMUS, BELEF, KUSTENDORF CLASSIC, ARLEMM, and also abroad (Spain, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Monaco, Romania, USA, China).
