Jelena Jankovic-Begus received her doctorate from the Department of Musicology at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade (2022). She completed her undergraduate studies in musicology (1999) at the same department, received her master's degree from the University of Arts in Belgrade in the UNESCO department in Cultural Policy and Management: Interculturalism and Mediation in the Balkansinterdisciplinary program and simultaneously obtained her master's degree fromLyon 2 Lumiere University in France.
As a part of her magister studies, she was on a three-month internship at the National Opera in Lyon as a recipient of the Government of France scholarship. She was the scholarship recipient of the Government of France for the second time in the 2009/2010 academic year and obtained the Master 2 Diploma from the Dauphin University in Paris in the field of cultural institutions management. She has trained in the field of cultural management and in seminars in Austria and Germany. Since 2014, she has been employed at the Center of Belgrade Festivals (CEBEF) where she works as a producer of the Belgrade Music Festival (BEMUS), editor and a producerof concert season, national and international projects.
As a representative of employees, she is a member of the CEBEF Management Board. From 2021 to 2023, she was a local coordinator of the #synergy Sharpening the capacities of the classical music industry in the Western Balkanssuccessful project co-financed by the European Commission that was meant to ensure the cooperation of six international festivals and promote12 composers and 30 young performers from the region of the Western Balkans. She is active in the field of scientific research and her primary area of interest is interdisciplinary research of contemporary Serbian and European musical creativity and their reception in local and international frameworks and the analysis of art festivals and institutions.
She has published more than thirty original scientific studies and a dozen of reviews in important international and national anthologies and professional journals. She is currently preparing a monograph on the Serbian composer and academician Vlastimir Trajković. She has been employed as a reviewer in Serbian and foreign musicological magazines. She is the editor and co-editor of scientific journals published by the Musicological Society of Serbia (whose member she has been since its foundation) and a large number of various publications. She has participated in international scientific gatherings and conferences in Serbia and abroad (Switzerland, France, Belgium, Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Bulgaria).
In recognition of her previous results in the field of scientific research, the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation awarded her the title of Scientific Associate in 2023. She has been engaged as an expert of the European Commission for the evaluation of projects as a part of the Creative EuropeProgram (since 2018)and the HorizonProgram (since 2021). She received the Certificate of Appreciation from the Second Program of Radio Belgrade for many years of successful cooperation in 2018.
