The young Hungarian artist Dora Kokas has positioned herself as the leading cellist of her generation.She was born into a musical family in 1992. She studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest in the class of Miklos Perenyi and the Razumovsky Academy in London in the class of Oleg Kogan. She trained under Janos Starker,Mischa Maisky, David Geringas, Steven Isserlis in their master classes.
She is a passionate chamber musician and she has achieved cooperation with J. Bell, F. Rados, Z. Kocsis, N. Altstaedt, M. Rysanov and many other renowned artists. She regularly performs either as a soloist in recitals or with orchestras and chamber ensembles. She has won several international competitions. Additionally, she won the Alice and EleonoreCompetition in Harbin, China (2018), Debut-Hamburg (2017), the 23rdJohannes BrahmsInternational Competition(2016) and Pablo Casals in Budapest, (2014). She became a recipent of the Junior Prima Prize in 2015. She has performed in numerous European concert halls (Wigmore Hall in London, Konzerthaus Berlin, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Rachmaninov Hall in Moscow, Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Malibran Theatre in Venice, etc).
She plays Domenico Montagnana’s instrument made in 1730 on loan from the Hungarian state collection.
