The "Visoko C" Association of Artists

The "Visoko C" Association of Artists was founded in 2015 in Novi Sad, aiming to develop awareness of our and foreign music culture, especially among children and young people. True to the sung musical word, the "Visoko C" brings the world of opera closer to kids and introduces the audience to an unusual programme, such as opera for children, in an educative and fun way. The "Visoko Ce" also performs other vocal-instrumental stage projects, e. g. operas, plays with singing, and musicals. The "Visoko C" also organises concerts, thematic literal and art events accompanied by music, as well as summer camps and music and drama workshops.

The "Visoko C" Association of Artists has given over 500 shows in Serbia and the region (Bijeljina, Banja Luka, Kotor). In addition to its growing reputation, the association is receiving vigorous support from institutions such as the City Council for Culture of Novi Sad, the Cultural Center of Novi Sad, and the Novi Sad 2021 Foundation. The association regularly performs at the Egység Cultural Station in Novi Sad and the Vuk Theater in Belgrade.

Branislav Cvijić, tenor and founder of the "Visoko C", and Marija Cvijić, soprano and its permanent member, are both passionate about their artistic mission:
In order to raise children, it is essential to perform operas for them. Building the musical taste of the youngest is crucial for developing their af inity for music. By participating in operas for children, children develop their creativity and strengthen their personalities. There should be operas for children in the repertoire of every theatre. It should become a "need" to encourage children to visit, see, and participate in performances at the theatre. That should be the ultimate goal, because in this way we will be directing them towards the right values and the preservation of culture, which is the foundation of every well-ordered society.

Its standard repertoire includes a cycle of concerts titled About Love, which features evergreen melodies – Spanish songs, Italian canzones, and Russian romances – performed by soloists accompanied by chamber ensemble or piano, then numerous operas for children such as Petar Jovanović’s Little Red Riding Hood, Dana Bee, and The Goat's Ears of the Emperor Trojan, Petar Krstić’s Snow White, Ede Poldini’s Cinderella, Aleksandar Bahun’s Baš-Čelik, César Cui’s Puss in Boots, and Mozart’s world-famous Bastien und Bastienne and Die Zauberflöte.

Opera for children The Ant and the Grasshopper
Aesop’s fable "The Ant and the Grasshopper" found its place in children’s literature as one of the most beloved stories. We are presented with a simple lesson of this story, and that is: "Who works, he earns." or" If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat".

The project is designed for children to participate interactively all the time, so that in one part of the play they are sided with the grasshopper, and in the other part with the ant. Isn’t it nice when someone plays and sings? Doesn’t music and art itself make man and society better? These and many other questions will be addressed to the children during the performance.

In addition to the two main actors, the stage is embellished with the forest fairy that communicates with children through dance and music. The show is designed for children under 11.
