Sonja Šarić

Soprano Sonja Šarić completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim (under Prof. Snežana Stamenković).

She has participated in numerous national and international competitions where she has won a number of awards, including awards at the Nikola Cvejić International Singing Competition (Serbia), the Bruna Špiler International Singing (Montenegro), and the Maria Callas Grand Prix in Athens in 2017. She also won the Austrian "Musiktheaterpreis" in the category for young artists in 2019 for the role of Leonora in Verdi’s Il trovatore, Second Prize at the famous Elizabeth Connell Prize – International Singing Competition for Dramatic Sopranos in Sydney in 2019, and First Prize and Audience’s Choice Award at the 4th Éva Marton International Singing Competition in 2021.

As a member of the opera studio at the Graz Opera from 2016 to 2019, Sonja Šarić performed a number of small roles and concerts, but also gained recognition with complex roles of her Fach such as the Countess in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Madame Cortese in Rossini's Il viaggio a Reims, and Nedda in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci.

Her concert repertoire includes Lieder by Schubert, Richard Strauss, and Mahler, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, and Verdi’s Requiem.

Sonja Šarić has been performing independently since 2019, making guest appearances at leading operatic centers throughout Europe. She performed at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Salzburger Festspiele, the Opéra national de Paris, the Landestheater Linz, the National Theater in Mannheim, and the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. She has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Jaap van Zweden, Philippe Jordan, as well as with the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker.

Sonja Šarić made her Serbian operatic debut as Verdi’s Aida at the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad in 2021. In 2022 she debuted as Bellini’s Norma at the National Theatre in Belgrade.
