Nadežda Tokareva

Nadežda Tokareva, a Russian-Slovenian violinist, was born into a family of musicians. She completed her graduate and postgraduate studies in violin at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (under Prof. Eduard Grach)

During her academic career, Nadežda Tokareva won awards at numerous international violin competitions, including First Prize at the Second Yampolsky International Competition (Penza, 1999), Special Prize at the Twelfth International Tchaikovsky Competition (Moscow, 2002), Special Prize at the Marguerite Long – Jacques Thibaud Competition (Paris, 2002), and Second Prize at the First International Paganini Violin Competition (Moscow, 2003).

She was a solo violinist of the Moscow State Academy Philharmonic Society from 1999 to 2011. Aside from Russia and the United States, she has performed in more than 40 countries, including countries in Western and Eastern Europe, Israel, Turkey, China, and Japan.

She has collaborated with numerous Russian and foreign symphonic and chamber orchestras, and participated in a number of prestigious international master classes and music festivals.

Nadežda Tokareva was an Associate Professor at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (2002–2013) and the Maimonides State Classical Academy in Moscow (2011–2014). She taught as a guest professor at Kurashiki Sakuyo University in Japan (2006–2009).

Since 2011, Nadežda Tokareva has been living in Slovenia, where she has continued her performing and teaching activities with much success. She performs in the most prestigious halls of Slovenia, regularly records for the State Radio of Slovenia, and gives master classes. She is also the author of many violin premieres and the first performer of Slovenian authors' works.

She performs on a 1765 Nicolò Gagliano violin.
