Marko Josifoski

Marko Josifoski started playing the violin at the age of five. He graduated and obtained his master's degree from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade (under: Prof. Dejan Mihailović). He studied at the Bern Conservatory (under Prof. Igor Ozim). He held a Swiss government scholarship during his studies. He attended master classes with prominent artists like Ida Haendel, Shlomo Mintz, Ruggiero Ricci, Eduard Grach, Nam Yun Kim, and Thomas Brandis.

He was a participant of a music programme at the Interlochen Arts Camp in the US, where he performed with the World Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he played for UNICEF at the United Nations in New York City, as well as at a number of festivals both in the country and abroad. He represented Yugoslavia at the 1990 Eurovision solo concert in Istanbul.

Marko Josifoski won many first and special awards at competitions in the former Yugoslavia, as well as several international awards, including Premio Mozart (Italy), "Jaroslav Kocian" (Czech Republic), "Rodolfo Lipizer" (Italy), and ”Golden Angel” for the most successful young artist.

Among his other accolades are the October Award of the City of Belgrade for outstanding artistic achievement, the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts Award, the City of Skopje Award, and the Radio Belgrade Award for the best musician.

He has performed in Italy, the United States, Austria, Russia, Israel, the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Slovenia, Greece, Macedonia... As a soloist, he performed with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the RTS Symphony Orchestra, the Macedonian Philharmonic, the Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia "Stanislav Binički'', the Romanian Philharmonic, and with many chamber orchestras in the country and abroad. PGP-RTS published his recording of the complete Beethoven violin sonatas in 2007.

In 2002, he began working at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. In 2014, he was appointed Associate Professor at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.

Marko Josifoski is a member of the Rubicon String Quartet as well as the chamber trio with Rita Kinka (piano) and Laura Levai-Aksin (flute).
